Rosary

As we are in the month of October, we have prayed the rosary in honour of Mary. 

Hoops 4 Health

Year 5 were visited by players from the Newcastle Eagles to take part in this workshop. It involved learning about Healthy Eating and Habits, as well as exercising using basketball skills. 

Great North Museum

Year 5 visited the Great North Museum (Hancock) in Newcastle to take part in a research project called Time Odyssey. This was a blended learning adventure played on a tablet. The children worked in small groups of 2 or 3 per tablet, assisted by teachers and museum staff, to use an app which encouraged children to learn through play and storytelling. This also involved choosing and analysing museum objects, as well as teamwork, creative activities, photography and discussion. 

Live Lesson with Frank Cottrell Boyce

We had a live lesson with Frank Cottrell Boyce about how he creates his characters and the importance of reading. We took part in breaking the World Record for the most people reading online in 12 hours.

Celebration of the Word

Year 5 welcomed parents to join in their Celebration of the Word, focusing on the Feast day of the Guardian Angels, celebrated on the 2nd October. 

Jarrow Hall Trip

Year 5 explored the life of Bede, discovered where he lived, visited St Paul’s Church and the monastery, and had a go at manuscript writing just like scribes of the past. ✍️

The children also visited the farm to find out more about what Anglo Saxon life was really like, making brilliant links between history, daily life and the world around them. 🌿🐑
